West Indies set up World Cup squad without Russell-Narine

The T20 World Cup will be held in Australia next month. The West Indies Cricket Board announced the squad for the tournament on Wednesday. Opener Evin Lewis has been called up to the 15-man squad. Destructive all-rounder Andre Russell was not included in the squad.

Sunil Narine’s name is not there either. Fabian Allen was also not considered. West Indies chief selector Desmond Haynes said: “We met Russell earlier this year. I still can’t be happy. He is not able to perform the way he wants to see in the competition. â€?/p>

“I think we want to go ahead without Russell where he is. I am looking for someone who is in form and doing well in the T20 tournament. â€?/p>

West Indies World Cup squad: Nicholas Pooran (captain), Rovman Powell (vice-captain), Shimron Hetmyer, Evin Lewis, Jason Holder, Kyle Mayers, Yannick Carriah, Aqeel Hossain, Obed McCoy, Johnson Charles, Alzarri Joseph, Raymon Reifer, Sheldon Cottrell, Brendan King, Odin Smith.
