The 16th season of IPL starts tomorrow Friday. Several rules have been changed in this year’s Indian Premier League. Let’s take a look at some of the rules that the IPL authorities have changed. Usually, the captains announce the XI at the time of the toss. However, in this year’s IPL, the teams will be able to choose two XIs at the time of the toss. As a result, the teams will be able to select their preferred XI based on the match conditions and toss win/loss. After the final XI, another rule is also introduced this time. A cricketer who is not in the first eleven in the first innings can be included in the team in the next innings. He is the ‘Impact Player.’ The captains will name four additional players along with the XI during the toss. One of these four players can be replaced in the XI between matches. The replaced player can either bat or bowl.

Impact players can be dropped within 15 overs of an inning. However, there is no time limit for concussions. If someone leaves the field with a head injury while batting, someone new can come and bat in his place. In that case, more than 11 batsmen can bat in this inning. This time the policy of slow over rate is also changing. If the captain fails to complete the over within the stipulated time, he will be fined. But again in IPL, if the over is not completed within the specified time, the batting team will get an additional advantage. As a penalty, 4 instead of 5 should be placed outside the 30-yard boundary. Another rule change has been made by the tournament authorities. Any illegal movement by the wicketkeeper or fielder will result in the delivery being declared dead. Along with that, the batting team will also get 5 runs penalty.
