Is Mashrafe’s BPL over?

Sylhet Strikers have been flying since the beginning of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Winning one match after another, the team has secured the playoffs first as well as the top spot in the points table. However, before the qualifiers, Sylhet got a piece of big bad news. Captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza is uncertain about the playoffs due to injury.

Sylhet Strikers head coach Rajin Saleh said this while talking to reporters. He said that mashrafe’s injury condition will not be available in the next matches of the group. There are even concerns about getting him in the playoffs. I have spoken to Mashrafe. He told me Groen was hurt well.

In response to a question on how long it can take Mashrafe to recover, Rajin Saleh said, “The physio has said that it may take 10-12 days for Mashrafe to recover. As such, it is difficult to say right now whether he will be able to play in the qualifiers or not. But we are optimistic about him.

Mashrafe can be said to be successful with the ball so far in the current BPL. With 12 wickets in 10 matches, he is seventh on the list of top bowlers. Dhaka captain Nasir Hossain is at the top of the list with 16 wickets in 11 matches.

Mashrafe suffered the injury while bowling against Khulna Tigers at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on January 30. Due to that injury, he could not play in the match against Rangpur Riders on Saturday. Instead, Mushfiqur Rahim failed to win the team with the responsibility of captaincy.
