Gulf giants are in the playoffs with a thrilling win

MI Emirates and Gulf Giants face off at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Dubai on Wednesday (February 1). The Gulf giants won the last ball thriller in the match.

Batting first, Emirates were all out for 139 runs. They lost the last 8 wickets for just 51 runs. Gulf was on its way to an easy win. But suddenly the controlled bowling of the opponent lost the rhythm. 18 runs were needed in the last two overs. In the 19th over, Dwayne Bravo’s six-ball saw Gulf lose just 7 runs for 2 wickets and the tension returned to the match.

Golf was cornered by Jordan Thompson’s excellent bowling in the last over. Needing 3 runs off the last ball, Shimron Hetmyer hit a six through deep midwicket to win the match. They scored 143 runs for 5 wickets.

Tom Banton scored the highest 45 runs in the top order. James Vince (26), Chris Lynn (28), and Gerhard Erasmus (20) also contributed. Hetmyer was unbeaten on 13 runs.

Earlier, Nicolas Puran scored 42 runs off 29 balls for Emirates. The second highest 29 runs came with the bat of Mohammad Wasim. Chris Jordan took the most 3 wickets for Gulf. Dominic Drakes, David Wiese, and Rehan Ahmed got two wickets each.
Golf at the top with 12 points in 8 matches. Despite getting equal points, dessert is two behind in run rate. Emirates is third with 9 points.
