The 35-year-old marked another notable moment during his debut for the Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League (BBL) Season 13, scoring 14 runs off ten balls. He joins a select group, becoming the fourth cricketer to achieve this record after Kieron Pollard (2010), Azhar Mahmood (2012), and Andre Russell (2016).
Recently retiring from international cricket, Imad bid farewell to an illustrious eight-year career with the national team last month. Through his social media platform, the 34-year-old expressed that it was the fitting moment to conclude his international journey.
He stated, “In recent days I have been doing a lot of thinking about my international career and I have come to the conclusion that now it’s the right time for me to announce my retirement from international cricket.”
Imad extended his gratitude to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for their unwavering support throughout his career. His international journey began in May 2015 against Zimbabwe, culminating in 55 ODIs and 66 T20Is for Pakistan. He amassed 109 wickets and contributed 1,472 runs during his tenure.
A pivotal figure in the Pakistan squad, Imad played a crucial role in the 2017 Champions Trophy victory. He also featured prominently in tournaments like the 2016 T20 World Cup, 2019 World Cup, and 2021 T20 World Cup.
In addition to his international success, Imad showcased stellar performances in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 8. He garnered 404 runs in ten innings at an impressive average of 134.66 and a striking rate of 170.46, while also claiming nine wickets with his bowling prowess.
