Recently-retired England spinner, Moeen Ali, disclosed that he had a conversation with head coach Brendon McCullum regarding the possibility of being part of the Test side for the 2024 tour of India. While Ali initially seemed uncertain about joining the 5-Test series scheduled for January to March, he shared details of his exchange with McCullum.

Moeen Ali made a remarkable return from retirement to join England’s Test squad for the Ashes after an injury to left-arm spinner Jack Leach. The decision was influenced by a one-word text message from England’s Test captain, Ben Stokes, simply reading “Ashes?”

Ali’s performances during the Ashes 2023 proved pivotal for England, contributing significantly to their victories at Headingley and The Oval. Despite his Test retirement following the series, he expressed contentment with his career, which featured ups and downs, and he was particularly delighted to finish on a high note at The Oval.

Ali, who has played 68 Tests for England, scoring over 3000 runs and taking over 200 wickets, has been successful against India as well, claiming 55 wickets, including two 5-wicket hauls, in matches against the Asian giants.
